TIME PASS
NEVSKAYA SASHA
For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name's sake you lead me and guide me.
- Psalms 31:3

A gaze directed to the past sees events that reflect the world of the present, entering into a dialogue with it. Our memories are accidental and, like pieces of a puzzle, can be reassembled in many ways. The same pieces can be used to build different narratives or, once we see the pattern, put into a single story. Photography documents the accidentality of time, thus revealing its patterns. If to capture a person or an object is to come into contact with their vulnerability and impermanence, a personal story told through photography is both a record of one's own transformations and a work open to multiple interpretations.
Time Pass is a series of previously unpublished photographs by Sasha Nevskaya that speaks about observing time and finding oneself within it. The images collected in the book tell a story about events in the inner and outer worlds that took place over a period of five years, from 2016 to 2022. Moments of the past resonate with each other in the photographs and uncover the cyclical nature of time. As time passes, familiar images are being reborn and coming back to us in echoes. The book is an exploration of the world and its patterns through feeling, touch, sight, movement, and memory.
